The CBM-VET Closing Event: A Resounding Success That Surpassed All Expectations

The CBM-VET project concluded on a high note at the iconic Espaço Cacau in São Tomé and Príncipe, establishing itself as a key milestone for the development of vocational maritime and fisheries training in the region. This closing event, held on November 27, 2024, not only met but exceeded all expectations, gathering a larger-than-expected number of attendees and standing out as a significant space for collaboration and meaningful learning.

During the event, participants reflected on the progress achieved throughout the project, which has strengthened the capacities of local educational institutions and raised training standards in the maritime and fisheries sectors. Essential topics, such as safety in fishing, challenges in vocational training, the impact of the fisheries sector in the country, and the role of women in these activities, were addressed through a series of dynamic and enriching sessions.

The atmosphere was defined by the interaction between local authorities, sector experts, and international partners, who shared ideas, experiences, and future visions. These exchanges reinforced a collective commitment to sustainable development and continuous improvement of skills in the region.

Thus, the CBM-VET project, co-financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program, comes to an end. It has been a first step in enhancing maritime and fisheries education in São Tomé and Príncipe, laying the groundwork for future initiatives in the sector.

The event was a celebration of joint efforts and a testament to the commitment to a more promising future for the communities of São Tomé and Príncipe.
