A partnership to strengthen collaboration in the field of maritime vocational training and fisheries.
The closing event of the CBM-VET project, which took place on 27 November 2024 at Espaço Cacau, was an opportunity to consolidate the progress made in maritime and fisheries vocational training in São Tomé and Príncipe in recent years. The project has made it possible to strengthen the capacities of educational institutions and improve the quality of training in the region.
The programme began at 08:30 with the arrival of the guests and officially started at 09:00 with welcome speeches from the Director of APCI, Alfredo Bragança da Trindade, and the Director of IPTL, Maurício Pereira. During the event, the project, its impact and results were presented, and key issues such as the importance of the fisheries sector for São Tomé and Príncipe, the contribution of women in the sector, the challenges of vocational training and safety in fisheries were discussed. The topics were addressed by representatives from MARAPA, DECEL and QUALISEG, followed by debates and testimonies from the training participants. The event ended with a closing speech by Gervazio do Rosário, on behalf of the Director of Fisheries, João Pessoa.
Partners from various countries, local authorities, sector experts and distinguished guests were present, contributing to a dynamic exchange of ideas and collaborations.
